As snail lovers, we have to deal with some disrespectful comments. But here is a place where we can laugh about the most heartbreaking yet HILARIOUS times someone called us out on our slimy friends.
Here is mine: Ok, so actually just last week someone came up to me and asked... “How many snails do you have?” “About 23...” I replied. (If your wondering how the 20 got in there, I found a group of about 20 Strawberry Snails and I keep those now, too, because if not they would be destined for the lawnmower.)
So anyway back to the story, that dude ran and gossiped to his dude friends after returning back to me and (actually, looking back on it, not very) politely told me...
“Your obsession with snails is unhealthy!” ;-; So...hilarious!! That guy has no idea what he’s missing. Snails are the best!
Okay, now it’s your turn! Tell us about a time someone commented you on snails and then tell us how you reacted.

This happened on May 12th, two days before my actual birthday. I invited two of my friends for my birthday this year. When I've told them that one of the activities would be giving a bath to my snailies (I only had 6 then), one of them was like "yuck!" and the other one (my best friend, by the way) didn't seem to really want. So, we made a deal: I told them that they'd hold only one snail to start, to see if they're as gross as they thought. They've agreed. When we came back from the pool, it was time for the snails' bath and oil shell treatment. I've put them in the bath, and when they got out, I've told my friends about how to do this. I've put one in my hand (Lemonade, I think) and my best friend tried to handle him, but he didn't want to. Though, she handled Peanut a lot (my best friend handled my favorite snail, wow), and now, she'd be interested to have some! She's not sure, though, because her mother doesn't like snails too much. As for my other friend, she handled Marble the whole time, and she was like "they're not as gross as I thought!". She likes snails a bit more, just enough to have fun when handling them, but still not enough to want to take care of some. It's not a problem, I don't want to force her! So, next time someone says snails are gross, you should invite them to handle some! For those who wonder what the snailies I was talking about look like, there's a pic! From left to right: Cappuccino, Marble, Rainbow, Choco, Lemonade, Peanut.

Hehe, you know, my very first memory is of being crouched under a tarp and playing with beetles. I was also the little girl who went to school with crickets in my pockets. Anyone who knows me knows that I love all animals, even tiny slimy ones, so I've never had anyone make a rude comment about my snails. I'm constantly playing with bugs and spiders and snakes that I've found, so I've pretty much scared away anyone who would have a problem with snails.

I tried playing with a spider once- then found out it was a brown recluse and I have since stopped intentionally looking for spiders
