Although it’s very unlikely, Snails can catch Diseases. (Snail Diseases, they don’t affect humans.) Some can be mild and last for only a day, and others may be fatal. Learn how to protect your snails from Diseases and the most common types.
TYPES OF DISEASES SNAILS MAY CATCH OR PROBLEMS THAT MAY AROUSE Worms-mostly seen in GALS-highly unlikely Soft shell-seen in all snails-unlikely?... Food Poisoning-seen in all snails-unlikely Loss of moisture-seen in all snails-likely
As you can see, none of these problems or diseases are too likely to happen, but we still have to keep a watchful eye.
PROTECT YOUR SNAILS FROM ILLNESS 1. Bathe your snails frequently 2. ALWAYS keep your snail’s habitat humid. 3. Wash any food your snails are going to eat. 4. Feed your snails a calcium supplement such as cuttlebone.
CURE DISEASES! Loss of moisture-If your snail is looking dried out, give it a bath and then try to keep them much more moist from now on.
Food Poisoning-There is really nothing you can do. 😕 Just always remember to wash your snail’s food.
Soft Shell-Be very gentle with your snail and try to give it some cuttlebone, or an eggshell. Keep feeding the snail these calcium supplements for pretty much the rest of it’s life.
Worms or Other Pests-EEEEWWWW!!! Just the thought of worms or flies being roommates with my snails makes my skin crawl. Bathe your snails frequently and put them in a quarantine tank if necessary. Use tweezers to remove dead bugs.
